Great Lakes Region
swisspeace has conducted research on the Great Lakes Region with a focus on Dealing with the Past and peacebuilding, and has developed expertise in the region through different consultancy mandates. In 2016, swisspeace supported SDC Country Offices with the strategy development for the great lakes program in Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burundi with a particular focus on conflict sensitivity.
Further, swisspeace has written a report on the criminal trial in the Yalisika case in 2015 in the DR Congo.

Observation of the criminal case related to the 2011 incidents in Yalisika, DR Congo
The report covers the trial observation of the first instance criminal trial against Colonel Koyo et al in the Yalisika case. The trial lasted from June 2015 to December 2015 and was heard by the Military Court of the Équateur Province in Mbandaka in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Trial observation report.
