Anna Bernhard holds a MA in Cultural Anthropology, Gender Studies and Pedagogy from the University of Basel and a MAS in Development and Cooperation from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of the University of Zurich. Anna was a researcher and project officer at the Berghof Foundation, Berlin, in an EU-funded project entitled: The role of Governance in the Resolution of Socio-economic and Political Conflict in India and Europe. She conducted thematic analysis of hybridity, the influence of culture and international norms, and the nature of relations between different actors when building peace. Anna was also an associate at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in New Delhi (India), where she worked on local governance and decentralization, as part of the management team of the Local Governance Initiative South Asia. Prior to her time with SDC, she worked for Helvetas on conflict sensitivity, civilian peacebuilding and aid effectiveness, and interned at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, in the areas of gender and combating human trafficking. Anna is currently a program officer with the swisspeace Analysis and Impact Program, where she focuses on research and conflict analysis methodology and practice.
