Sergio Gemperle holds a MA in International Relations and Development Policy from the Institute for Development and Peace of the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). Sergio worked as a research assistant for the Swiss chapter of Transparency International. He also completed a research internship with the Institute of Social Sciences in New Delhi (India) and interned with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Mongolia. Sergio joined swisspeace as an intern in the Center for Peacebuilding (KOFF) and later became a program officer with the Statehood and Conflict Program. He is currently within the swisspeace Business and Peace Program as a PhD candidate with the University of Basel. His doctoral research focuses on anti-corruption agencies and statebuilding, in particular, the effects of anti-corruption institutions on post-conflict statebuilding.
