The Basel Peace Forum intends to inspire new and unconventional ideas for peacebuilding. About 120 decision-makers from business, diplomacy, academia and civil society from 20 countries met on 15 and 16 January 2017 in Basel to rethink peace. The discussions led to the recommendations to world leaders to take up responsibility for peace. The next Basel Peace Forum will be in 2018. Learn more

KOFF roundtable on Colombia
The discussion with Luis Guillermo (CINEP), Luz Estella (COLEMAD), and Ricardo (Sembrando Paz) was very positive and constructive, with faith that something will move forward in Colombia and that the current situation offers the opportunity to redicuss what kind of peace the country needs.

Conference about civilian crisis prevention
David Lanz spoke at a conference in Berlin organized by the Social Democratic Party (SPD) parliamentary group about civilian crisis prevention. The conference is part of a process within the German government to develop guidelines for strengthening Germany’s role in conflict prevention, including mediation.

International Expert Working Meeting: Safe havens for archives at risk
At this international expert working meeting at the Zentrum Paul Klee, Bern, the goal was to convene sending and receiving institutions as well as experts and practitioners to jointly discuss the needs, challenges, good practice and the way forward of safe havens for archives at risk. The expert meeting was organized by swisspeace in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
