Lessons from the Stasi Records Agency

Nicola Diday participated in a visit of the Albanian Authority on the Sigurimi files at the Stasi Records Agency in Berlin. The goal of the visit was to learn from the experience of the Stasi Records Agency in making accessible the records of the former secret police of Eastern Germany.

Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission in Mali

swisspeace will be supporting the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission in Mali for a year in questions regarding archives and memory work. Rahel von Arx and Elisabeth Baumgartner undertook a first evaluation mission in Bamako in mid-May.


Mandate for UNDP Albania, 2017

Sigurimi Files in Albania

In the framework of a mandate by UNDP Albania swisspeace participated at a retreat of the Albanian Authority on the Sigurimi Files which is responsible to make accessible the records of the former secret communist police in Albania. Amongst others Nicola Diday provided an input on international experience in using archives for dealing with the past and made recommendations to the Authority.

Conflict Sensitivity Resource Facility South Sudan

swisspeace together with Saferworld and CDA have been implementing the Conflict Sensitivity Resource Facility (CSRF) to develop and test innovative approaches to conflict sensitivity in order to support the use of conflict sensitivity in donor strategies and programs in South Sudan. Police Archives and Dealing with the Past

In the framework of the project “Archives & Dealing with the Past”, funded by the Swiss FDFA, swisspeace organized a workshop for the Colombian Police on international experiences of Police Archives and Dealing with the Past.
