Mandate for the Swiss FDFA and the UK government

Joint Analysis of Conflict and Stability (JACS) in Mozambique

The mandate, conducted jointly by swisspeace and Markus Weimer (independent consultant), will last from Sept 2016 – Feb 2017 and will entail a thorough strategic level analysis of conflict and insecurity in Mozambique (Maputo and five provinces) with a focus on the Renamo-Frelimo conflict, organized crime, and violent extremism. The conflict analysis will be followed by a portfolio analysis of the Swiss and UK development programs in Mozambique. Together, these analyses will help to inform and advise the UK and Swiss development cooperation to contribute to stability, resilience and peace in the country. Capacity building events will further buttress this endeavor.

Conflict Sensitivity Resource Facility South Sudan

swisspeace together with Saferworld and CDA have been setting up a resource facility to support donors (in particular Germany, Canada, the United States, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) to conduct their operations in South Sudan in a conflict sensitive manner in order to contribute towards sustainable peace.

Role of “unusual actors” in local democratic processes

Learning project of the SDC’s Democratization, Decentralization and Local Governance Network (DDLG) on the ways to take into consideration informal actors in local governance. The learning project, which includes case studies on Macedonia, Mongolia, Mali and Tanzania, is jointly implemented by swisspeace, Helvetas and the Institute for Development Studies (DSS). Link
