Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Civilian Peacebuilding Methodologies
Peacebuilding, development and humanitarian actors require a specific skillset to work effectively in contexts prone to violent conflict, including high adaptability to rapidly changing environments. The CAS in Peacebuilding Methodologies is composed of 4 methodological trainings of your choice.
The course is designed for practitioners and academics interested in bridging their experiences with academic insights and practical knowledge on Peacebuilding Methodologies.

The CAS in Civilian Peacebuilding Methodologies is composed of 4 methodological trainings:
- Theories of Change in Fragile Contexts Training, 1 - 3 February 2017, 2 ECTS
- Preventing Violent Conflicts Course, 1-3 May 2017, 2 ECTS
- Human rights & Conflict transformation Training, 31 May - 2 June 2017, 2 ECTS
- Conflict analysis Training, 2018, 2 ECTS
- Conflict sensitivity Training, 2018, 2 ECTS
Other methodological trainings may be counted towards this CAS (e.g. designing peacebuilding projects, evaluating peacebuilding projects, etc.).
Leading international scholars and experienced practitioners from governmental bodies, civil society, international organizations and the private sector facilitate this program.
Methodology & Assignments
Assignments include writing two learning portfolios and a CAS final thesis linked to the thematic areas dealt with during the course.
Successful participants are awarded a Certificate of Advanced Studies. This course can be taken as one module (15 ECTS) of the Master of Advanced Studies in Civilian Peacebuilding program (60 ECTS) offered by swisspeace and the University of Basel.
