Roland Dittli graduated from the University of Bern (modern history). After working and studying in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (oPt) he joined swisspeace 2001 as Research Analyst for the Lusophone Africa (2001-2002) and as Program Officer at the Center for Peacebuilding (KOFF) in 2003. He then held a position for the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs' Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding as head of the Swiss delegation and head of staff division at the "Temporary International Presence in the City of Hebron" (2004-2005). As a freelance consultant he carried out several consultancy mandates for German development and peacebuilding organisations in the oPt and Yemen (2005-2006). Topics like conflict sensitivity, relevance and impact of the Civil Peace Service, needs assessments and conflict analysis took center stage in these consultancies. Before re-joining swisspeace in June 2008 he worked in Lilongwe/Malawi in an EU governance project, focussing on issues of monitoring & evaluation, "managing for development results" and impact assessment. At the Centre for Peacebuilding (KOFF) he is responsible for issues of peacebuilding & development and conflict sensitivity.
